Urbex 76 - Getting arrested and being on the trial because of UrbEx, cracking London abandoned underground stations, Burlington and climbing The Shard with Bradley Garrett

In this captivating episode of the Chasing Bandos Urbex Podcast, we are joined by Bradley Garrett, a renowned social geographer, explorer, and photographer based at University College Dublin. With his extensive experience in urban exploration, Bradley takes us on a thrilling journey through the hidden depths and heights of London.

From his early days in the city, Bradley became immersed in the world of urban exploration, venturing into abandoned underground tube stations and pushing the boundaries of what was off-limits. His fearless pursuit of hidden spaces led him to co-authoring notable books on the subject, including "Explore Everything: Place Hacking the City," which chronicles his adventures in exploring ruins, tunnels, and climbing skyscrapers alongside the London Consolidation Crew.

During the episode, Bradley shares gripping stories of his underground explorations, shedding light on the hidden underworld beneath the bustling metropolis. He unveils the secrets of subterranean London in his book "Subterranean London: Cracking the Capital," offering insights into the intriguing and enigmatic spaces that lie beneath the city's surface.

But the exploration doesn't stop underground. Bradley also explores the heights of London in his book "London Rising: Illicit Photos from the City's Heights," capturing breathtaking views from the city's rooftops and reflecting on the social, infrastructural, and corporate verticalities that define the urban landscape.

However, with great exploration comes great risk. Bradley reflects on the dangers of urban exploration, recounting instances where his passion for uncovering hidden spaces led to brushes with the law. He shares his experiences with the London Consolidation Crew and the British Transport Police, providing a cautionary perspective on the potential consequences of pushing the boundaries of urbex.

Join us as we delve into the extraordinary world of urban exploration with the insightful and thought-provoking Professor Bradley Garrett. His stories will ignite your sense of adventure while also reminding us of the importance of understanding the risks and responsibilities that come with the exploration of forbidden spaces.

LCC you see in London is actually the London County Council. It was the political council that was responsible for managing and running London. Not a building group. They operated the city in the late 70’s.
